The puzzle pieces fit together so snugly that the peacock’s tail feathers stayed perfectly in place while I was painting them. It took me a couple of evenings to finish, but watching the blank wooden bird come to life with my own color choices was oddly relaxing.

The painting part was way more fun than I expected—the pre-cut pieces have nice smooth edges, so I could focus on mixing colors for the feathers instead of worrying about splinters. Took me a couple evenings to finish, but watching the peacock take shape on my shelf was oddly satisfying.

The tail feathers lock together so snugly that the whole thing holds its shape even before the paint dries. I spent a rainy afternoon on it, and the finished peacock looks almost like it belongs in a gallery rather than on my shelf.
